A review of the new movie ‘Dream Horse’ based on the true story of Dream Alliance, bred by a group of friends, who was one of the first racehorses to receive a stem cell treatment for an injured tendon and go on to racing success:

 

Riding into “Dream Horse,” you think you know, broadly speaking, the buttons that will be pressed by the filmmakers.

This is, after all, ultimately a movie about horseracing, so you expect hope followed by struggle, tough times followed by triumph, and scenes of horses furiously galloping around a track, the jockeys on top of them urging each to be the first to cross the finish line.

You’re right about all of it.

That doesn’t make it all any less enjoyable.

“Dream Horse” — more specifically about a woman who brings others in her small town together to breed and race a horse — is one of those movies with the power to nourish the soul. While it isn’t a classic, it may just put a little pep in your step.
