Second choice RIDEALLDAY (Vekoma), ridden by American jockey Javier Castellano, blew away his rivals in a nine-length victory in the $300,000 (US) Mouttet Mile at Caymanas Park in Jamaica on Dec. 6. The richest race in the Caribbean was having its fourth running on a stakes-laden card of racing and 15 runners lined up for the Mile.

Rideallday wasn’t sharp from the gate and spotted leader and arch rival Legacy Isle some 10 lengths early in the one mile dirt race. Legacy Isle, who was second in the Mouttet Mile in 2024 to rival starter Funcaandun, was going at a speedy clip and was still in front turning for home. But Castellano had his grey colt moving along the inside late on the turn and when Legacy Isle drifted out while tiring, Rideallday flew to a big win.

The time was 1:36.40.

Rideallday’s ownership recently changed to Cassiopeia Racing, a group of seven women that includes two-time 100-metre gold medallist Shelly Ann Fraser-Price.

From the Jamaican Gleaner: Gary Peart, executive chairman, Supreme Ventures Limited, parent company of racing promoter Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited, said the make-up of the new ownership group bodes well for local racing.

“I believe it is huge when women see other ladies as owners in the sport of horse racing. There is a difference between owning a race horse for fun and gambling,” Peart pointed out.

“A group of seven women took a risk by purchasing this horse after the Port Royal Sprint and it paid off by them winning a $45m [JAM] race worth $24.9m to the new owners.”

Rideallday was originally a $57,000 Keeneland November weanling in 2022 and then a $70,000 Keeneland September yearling. A year later the colt was bought by SVREL (Supreme Ventures) for $25,000 as a two-year-old in training. By the hot young sire Vekoma, Rideallday is the eighth foal from Song of Hours, by Unbridled’s Song, and sixth winner. Nirvana Farm LLC bred Rideallday in Kentucky and owned the unraced Song of Hours.

The second dam of Rideallday is $600,000 earner and multiple stakes winner Words of War (Lord at War), the dam of Suburban and Dwyer Stakes (G2) winner in Dubai among other top stakes winners. Rideallday has won four of six races, all in Jamaica.
