RACE 1: 3- STORMY SOUL; 2- RACE FOR PINKS; 7-RACING IN THE RAIN; 6 – MALIBU SECRET
RACE 2: 7 – SHE’S SO COLD; 3- SECRET SUNSHINE; 4 – P.S. RISING STAR; 6 – ALWAY’S ROSIE
Third start off the layoff for She’s So Cold, who has had trouble in both races. Kazushi Kimura takes over as her rider.
RACE 3: 5- EGBERT J; 7 – GRACE ON THE GREEN; 2- UNIFIED FRONT; 3 – MOUNTAIN SOUND
She has not raced in a year but Egbert J was second in both career starts in 2022, once behind the very good Empress Tigress. Grace On the Green is working in very fast times for her first outing since July and this will be her first race on Tapeta.
RACE 4: 7 – IMPETUOUS MOLLY; 2 – RUN FOR THE HILLS; 1- GAYELETTE; 5 – ROYAL BLUSH
The Pick 4 starts with the first grass race of the 2023 Woodbine season and it’s a wide open 6 1/2 furlong allowance/optional claiming race. The Mark Casse pair of Impetuous Molly, a debut winner on turf last year, and Run for the Hills, who won big off a long layoff on March 3, look strong.
RACE 5: 1- MURDER HORNET; 8- LADY IN RED; 7 – OLYMPIC FENCER; 5 – HALO STYLE
RACE 6: 7- GOOGLY EYES; 3- TOTALLY IN CHARGE; 4 – TRIZZEL TRAZZEL; 12 – SOUPER SINCLAIR
Anything goes in this turf sprint for fillies and mares. There appears to be a lot of early pace in the field so I am looking for an off-the-pace type and perhaps Googly Eyes will be ready off the layoff. She won first time out last summer for trainer Jim Smith. Totally in Charge showed a lot of promise last year in a light campaign and she is 1 for 1 on the grass. The late Pick 4 starts here.
RACE 7: 7 – TAKOTA; 3 – FOXY LADY; 5- LOIS LEN; 4 – JILLI MARIE
Takota won three races last year and one of those was second time out off the winter vacation. She drops out of a hot race for this second start of 2023.
