The Pick 5 begins here and Hallanvaara likes the inner turf course and is dropping in claiming price for her second outing of 2023. The one to beat is likely Zippity Day who won her maiden at this distance on the inner turf.

The Pick starts with a turf sprint, optional claiming race, and I have picked another favourite for this evening’s card, Stormy Silence. This gal had an impressive start to her career last summer, winning her first two starts and then just missing in the Zadracarta Sstakes. She has been working in good clockings. Swinging Mandy had a messy return to the races on May 12 and she likes the grass (she won a stake on turf). She’s a major threat.
RACE 5: 1 – LION KINGDOM; 4- ROCKET JOE COPPER; 5 – BLUE MAX; 6 – MASTER SPY
Lion Kingdom won first time out in 2022 in a one-mile inner turf race. This race is a big shorter but he has speed to run at. Tough, old Rocket Joe Copper is strictly the one to beat as he exudes class and loves the grass.
RACE 6: 8- FEDALINE; 2- ROOKIE COURT; 3 – PERFECTLY LEGAL; 6 – GYPSY MAGIC
RACE 7: 4 – MASSETO (GB); 5- BUSHIDO; 3- SILENT POET; 2 – NAPA SPIRIT (IRE)
RACE 8: 9 – SIXTOFIVE; 1 – ENGLISH SHIRL; 7 – LIPLOCK; 6 – TRILLING SONG; TENDER SITUATION
On the grass for the finale and the Society’s chairman filly Sixtofive has grass breeding all over her pdigree. She ended 2022 with a fast finish to be a close second on the main track. English Shirl drops to a new low class level for her return and she should fit right in.
