JAMES BOGAR announces the arrival of CAVIAR AND CORONA to his  Bogar Farms in Cameron, ON for stud duty for 2018.

Purchased for $30,000 at the Heritage Place January sale last month, Caviar and Corona is a son of the all-time leading Quarter Horse sire by progeny earnings, Corona Cartel. Corona Cartel, who stands for $25,000 (US) at Lazy E Ranch in Oklahoma, is also a well known ‘sire of sires’ as his sons such as PYC Paint Your Wagon and Teller Cartel are also leading studs.

Caviar and Corona is a son of the graded stakes winner mare Illegal Fireworks ($182,000), a daughter of Walk Thru Fire, and the mare is a half sister to champion GOOD REASON, earner of over $1.4 million.

Bogar, owner of Cameron Steel, has been boosting his Quarter Horse population in the last two years, and is excited to introduce his new stallion to Ontario breeders.

“I personally have as many as eight mares to breed, three have previous engagements [for this spring], therefore I will breed four or five of my own to him this year.”

Caviar and Corona stands at 16 HH and is offered for a fee of $1,000 (Can). For more information on the stallion contact James Bogar at  705-879-1565 or by email [email protected].

FIRST LINE SYNDICATE, a group 20 owners, many experiencing their first foray into owning a Quarter Horse runner, purchased its next horse at the January sale at Heritage Place in Oklahoma. fresh off two years and three wins with its first horse, CR Party With Corona, the syndicate, under trainer Bob Broadstock bought EYE AM THE EAGLE for $6,500.

CR PARTY WITH CORONA was sold for $8,000.

From the First Line Syndicate release:

It is our understanding that she will be bred to one of the Lazy E stallions and we’re hoping to get an update. First Line Racing had a good year in 2017, all of us learning a lot about owning and racing a horse plus with the help of Ajax Downs, some of us learned how to bet on a horse. It was such an amazing experience First Line Racing decided to purchase another horse for the 2018 season. Introducing Eye am the Eagle, purchased at the auction on January 19, 2018.

If you missed out on the fun last year you can purchase a share this year. Contact Monique at [email protected] or by phone 905-426-7050

This sale followed last fall’s yearling auction in which number of Canadians bought youngsters who are now 2-year-olds.

As for the recently completed January sale, the presence of many locals looking at horses is encouraging for the upcoming Ajax season.

“It was an interesting sale,” said Bob Broadstock, president of the QROOI. “There didn’t seem to be a pattern to the prices.”

The 49th Ajax season gets underway in the first week of May and there are 25 race dates set.

The recent news that the regional races at Ajax for the Adequan Derby, John Deere and Maiden Challenge, funded by the AQHA will not be renewed this year was unfortunate news for Ajax but the AQHA has granted funds to the track for possibly three similar races.
