Champion two-year-old colt MY BOY PRINCE scored a workmanlike win in the King Corrie Stakes at seven furlongs on Sunday, May 19 at Woodbine, the fourth straight stakes win for trainer Mark Casse.

My Boy Prince, owned by Gary Barber, was 1-to-9 against four overmatched three-year-old rivals in the $114,200 race. He tracked the speed of Maximus Magic early in the race and when jockey Sahin Civaci gave him his cue, he was quickly on the lead. The grey colt galloped to a 6 3/4 length win in 1:23.04. Roi Soleil was second over Woodstock Stakes winner Midnight Mascot, also trained by Casse.

A feel-good colt, My Boy Prince was third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) at Del Mar last fall. At Woodbine, he won the Cup and Saucer Stakes on turf and the Simcoe Yearling Sales Stakes.

He got 2024 started in the 5 1/2 furlong Palisades Stakes on turf at Keeneland, finishing eighth.

The son of Cairo Prince – Hopping Not Hoping, by Silent Name (Jpn) has a long way to go before the King’s Plate in August, but he currently reigns as early favourite. He was the CTHS sale topper two years ago at $115,000 and was bred by Murray Smith.

Also on Sunday, another Plate hopeful, NO MORE OPTIONS, won a 7 1/2 furlong optional claiming race on the inner turf in his second outing of the season. Mary Self’s bay colt by Frac Daddy – Stoney Miss by Birdstone won by 2 3/4 lengths after stalking the speed from the rail under Kazushi Kimura. No More Options won the Frost King Stakes last year.

Trained by Self’s father Zeljko Krcmar, No More Options’ dam Stoney Miss is a half-sister to 2022 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Rich Strike and their dam Gold Strike won the 2005 Woodbine Oaks.
