Fresh from one of its graduates winning the $1 million King’s Plate at Woodbine on August 20, the Canadian Premier Yearling Sale, presented by the CTHS Ontario, is set to go this Wednesday, Aug. 30 beginning at 12 noon. Held at the Woodbine sale pavilion, the sale has some 250 yearlings catalogued, including a half sister to Paramount Prince, the Plate winner, offered by breeder Ericka Rusnak through Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency as agent.
Not only was Paramount Prince (by Society’s Chairman) in the sales ring last year and later purchased privately for $21,000 but he was the second major stakes winner sired by an Ontario stallion in a week. Patches O’Houlihan, a son of Reload, won the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes the day before the Plate.
Both Society’s Chairman and Reload are well represented in the sale as well as fellow Ontario sires Souper Speedy, Gamble’s Exchange, Frac Daddy, Danish Dynaformer, Ami’s Holiday, Point of Entry, Almasty, American Guru, Big Screen, Passion for Action, Signature Red, Silent Name (Jpn) and Old Forester.
Sires with their first crop of yearlings in the sale include Preakness Stakes (G1) winner War of Will, Met Mile (G1) winner Vekoma, Pacific Classic (G1) winner Higher Power, Manhattan Stakes (G1) winner Instilled Regard, Secretariat Stakes (G1) winner Carrick, Grade 2 winning juveniles Thousand Words and Enticed, Grade 1 placed Caracaro, among others.
Hip no. 174 is a filly by Souper Speedy from Platinum Steel by Eddington and a half sister to Paramount Prince. There is also a full brother to Horse of the Year and multiple champion Pink Lloyd, hip number 82 by Old Forester – Gladiator Queen, offered by John Carey, agent for T.C. Westmeath Stud Farm, Inc.
Certainly, there are dozens of other yearlings to mention but you can see the catalogue and updates HERE.
