Hastings Racecourse hosted four CTHS Sales Stakes on Monday night and each event was won by the favourite.

DEBRUSK, a two-year-old chestnut gelding by Finality – Real Vain by Wester Trick, romped in the two-year-old colts and geldings race at 6 1/2 furlongs under jockey Silvio Morales. Debrusk, named for NHLers Jake and Lou DeBrusk, won by 6 1/2 lengths in his second career start for owners Jordan Froelich, George and Terry Georgeopolous and owner/trainer Dino Condilenios.

Purchased for $8,500 at the 2024 BC CTHS sale, Debrusk raced the distance in 1:17.46 for a 59 Beyer Speed Figure. The gelding is the eighth foal to race of his winning dam and all previous seven of her starters are winners and four are stakes-placed. Red Rock Farm is the breeder of Debrusk.

The CTHS STAKES for two-year-old fillies was won by first time starter SUNNY WISHES, by Sungold – Krissy by Pop Artist, who was bet down to favouritism and led from start to finish to win by three lengths in 1:18.12 for 6 1/2 furlongs.

Owned by Century Plaze Stable and trained by Barbara Heads, Sunny Wishes was purchased for $24,000 from breeder Dino Condelinios.

WHATS SHAKIN just missed the track record for 1 1/16 miles when he won the CTHS Stakes for three- and four-year-old colt and geldings. Owned by Dennis Spence and trained by Cindy Krasner, Whats Shakin came from last in the four-horse field to win by  2 1/2 lengths in 1:42.68, not far off the track record of 1:42.20 set in 1996.

Bred by Elton Gunther, Whats Shakin is by Ralis – Omi by Rosberg and he was a $33,000 purchase from the 2022 BC sale. Cindy Krasner trains.

Whats Shakin is out of six-time winner Omi, who is stakes-placed. This was the fourth win for Whats Shakin from 13 starts and he posted a career best Beyer Speed figure of 86.

And CHI CHI TIME remained undefeated with another brilliant win, taking the filly and mare Sales Stakes by 9 1/4 lengths in 1:43.40 for an 80 Beyer Figure. Despite having foot problems leading up to the race, the three-year-old Finality filly was in an early pace duel with Someday Lady before drawing away at 1-to-5 odds. Co-owned and trained by Pat Jarvis, Chi Chi Time is also owned by Will-A-Way Farm and Gail Jewsbury and she was bred by Gladys and Karen Dittloff. Chi Chi Time was a buyback from the CTHS sale at $9,900. She has won all four of her races, three stakes, by a total of 28 1/2 lengths.

Chi Chi Time is from the mare Amarachi by Northern Afleet, who has produced two other winners and was a two-time winner herself.
