When the Chilean-bred racehorse TODO FINO was born on October 4, 2017, eight years ago, ALYSHA ROBILLARD was a teenager going to school and helping her family at Fort Erie racetrack. The daughter of trainers Josh Robillard and one of Fort Erie’s leading trainers JULIE MATHES embarked on her own training career on October 23, 2024, taking over her mother’s Mountaineer Park string in West Virginia.
Robillard, 22, raced horses a few times each month throughout the season at Mountaineer, while spending most of her time at Fort Erie at her mother’s barn or with horses owned by her partner, Gage Travis.
Todo Fino, one of the newest horses purchased by Travis, provided Robillard with the magical moment of her first career win as a trainer. Competing in an optional claiming $6,250 dash at 5 1/2 furlongs, Todo Fino was up in time to win by half a length, his 16th career win.
Still a stallion, Todo Fino ran 14 times in Chile to begin his career and he was third in the Grade Smile Sprint at Gulfstream Park in the summer of 2023 for co-owner and trainer Amador Sanchez. The dark bay son of Verrazano slipped down in class, however, dropping to just $6,250 this past April at Gulfstream. A claim for the horse in his next start was voided and he did not reappear until Sept. 7 at Mountaineer for owner Eniel Cordero. Racing for just $4,000 claiming, Todo Fino finished fourth in that grass sprint.
Travis and Robillard obtained Todo Fino from the Cordero family after that race. Travis had been following the horse for some time, said Robillard. The couple collected over $8,100 from Todo Fino’s victory.
