Rexdale, ON – The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division), is gearing up for its 27th Annual Awards, which takes place on Friday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. at the Lionhead Golf & Country Club in Brampton, Ontario.

In addition to celebrating the Ontario-Bred champions of 2008, the event will honour Adena Springs as Breeder of the Year and the late Morgan Firestone as the recipient of this year’s Blood-Horse Mint Julep Cup award.

“We’re very pleased to honour Adena Springs as our Breeder of the Year, as they have consistently topped the North American list for Leading Breeders by Earnings for the past six years, and last year alone produced 10 Ontario-Bred Black Type winners both on Canadian and U.S. soil,” said Julie Coulter, General Manager of the Ontario CTHS. “As well, we’re pleased to be able to pay tribute to Morgan Firestone as this year’s Mint Julep Cup winner, and honour him for his passion and commitment to the Thoroughbred breeding and racing industries.”

A silent auction featuring exceptional items donated by members and friends of the Thoroughbred community will also be included in the night’s festivities.  All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society.

Tickets for the awards dinner are $78.75 per person and may be obtained by contacting the CTHS office at 416-675-3602. For further information please visit www.cthsont.com.
