British trainer Sir Henry Cecil died June 11th, at 70 years old, after a battle with cancer.
Cecil, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2011, served as a trainer at Warren Place Stables for 44 years. He had numerous successes including, most recently, as trainer of the famous Frankel, who was retired last year after winning all 14 of his races.
A statement posted on his website this morning reads: “It is with great sadness that Warren Place Stables confirms the passing of Sir Henry Cecil earlier this morning.
Following communication with the British Horseracing Authority, a temporary licence will be allocated to Lady Cecil. No further update is anticipated this afternoon.”
