It was all business, as 166 horses sold for over $1.2 million in the Open Session of the Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale held on September 11th at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion, Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.

Topping the Sale was a Whiskey Wisdom colt out of the Tale of the Cat mare Matching Sox, which sold for $80,000 to Robert Tiller, Agent for 3 Sons Racing Stable. The bay colt was consigned by Kingstead Stables, Agent, and is a full brother to multiple stakes winner Double Malt.

This year’s Open Session of the Sale saw a dramatic increase in gross sales of 46.91% over last year’s Sale, while the average price rose 31% from $5,755 to $7,539.

The results of the both sessions of the 2010 Canadian-Bred Thoroughbred Sale can be found by visiting www.cthsont.com/yearsale.php.

Arrangements are now being made for the CTHS Winter Mixed Sale, which takes place on Saturday, November 27th at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion. Consisting of broodmares, stallions, stallion shares, weanlings, yearlings and horses of racing age, this Sale promises to have something for everyone. Catalogues will be available early November.
