Wynne antes up another $100 million for Ontario horse-racing
Unlike her predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, Wynne is increasing support to the horse-racing industry to $500 million over five years — up from the $400 million she pledged in October.
Premier Kathleen Wynne is sweetening the pot by $100 million to help save Ontario’s horse-racing industry.
In yet another example of her undoing the handiwork of her controversial predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, Wynne will announce Monday she is increasing support to the horse-racing industry to $500 million over five years — up from the $400 million she pledged in October.
The surprise move of an extra $20 million annually over the next five years is intended to help horse breeders and is earmarked for regional tracks in Fort Erie, Ottawa and Windsor, among other locations.

*The industry will await more news on this expected added funding – will FORT ERIE be able to get running after all, even if it may be very late in the game?
Does the industry take the money and run even if it is a blatant ‘vote getter’ by the Liberals while Tim Hudak, who declared that Slots at Racetracks would be brought back if he was elected. In addition, Hudak and Wynne are embroiled in their own accusations.
Comments on the media stories on this expected funding have not been overly pro-horse industry – it is up to our industry to continue to tell the people how important it is to the province.
Meanwhile, the worktab is getting busier at Woodbine as the locals scramble to get their horses ready for April 12.
On April 13, the JACQUES CARTIER STAKES will be the first added-money event of the season an it could pit SOMETHING EXTRA (troubled 4th in this race last year) against DIMENSION, BURNUM and VICTORY EXCHANGE.
