you're listening to an article from canadian thoroughbred.com. hastings updates & stats. presidents of the three racing associations, members of the bchrimc and hastings, general manager, darren macdonald will meet with the acting mayor of vancouver to discuss hastings racecourse this coming sunday, july 12th. great canadian casino corporations lease expires in the fall of 2016 and they have had discussions with the city on an extension and changes to their current lease for a possible longer term agreement on renewal. this great news for breeders and owners in british columbia. advertisement scroll to continue with content cths yearling and mixed sale offers incentives to buyers the three racing associations have agreed to once again offer 10 – $5000 certificates to be used by buyers against the purchase of yearlings at this years cths sale. similar to last year each purchaser will be given a tote bag with some goodies in them and 10 of bags will have the $5000 certificate in them. this year’s sale is once again being held at thunderbird show park. preview parade – tuesday, september 8, 2015 – 3:00 pm yearling & mixed sale – wednesday, september 9, 2015 – 3:00 pm thunderbird show park, langley, bc. breeders and owners incentive funds for 2016 the racing associations are in the final stages of drafting several new incentive programs for the fall of 2015 -2016. they should be announced fairly shortly to assist owners and breeders of our industry. the associations are also contemplating the feasibility of a spring two year old in training and horses of racing age sale in late march or early april of 2016. early discussions are underway and it would likely be held in the paddock at hastings racecourse if it proceeds. this sale would give our local breeders a second chance to sell their yearlings of 2015 and hopefully bring some new horses into the fold for 2016. we will keep you updated on any further news on that possibility. hasting racing club the hastings racing club, manager richard yates reports that the clubs second horse will arrive at hastings sometime today which is exciting news for club members. yates also reports their two year old urban achiever is ready to run and could possibly get his first start as early as this coming weekend. the club offered 200 memberships and has completely sold out as early last week. yates is taking names already for the hastings racing club 2016. tuesday as usual is stats day as of sunday. july 5th we have completed 22 days of live racing of the 2015 live racing season at hastings racecourse. all 22 days have been run over a fast racing strip and with no end in the sight to this dry spell its not about to change for a while. the mutual handle on our live racing continues to rise as we are now $2,720,558.00 dollars in wagering ahead of the same period of 2014. that works out to a 21% increase on a day to day basis. a total of 166 races have been run after 22 days with 1168 starters in those races which averages 7.04 horses per race. the average inched up with large fields on july 1st but continues to hold just over the 7 horses per race which is up over 2014 at this time. the average payout per day now stands at $133,969.00 in purse money. the total payout in purse money to date is $2,947,331.00 which consists of $2,247,331.00 in overnight races and $700,000.00 in stake purses. the average payout per overnight races is $14,785.00 per race. the breakdown of each race is $13,145.00 per race plus $1478.00 per race to bc breds plus an additional $162.00 per race on 6 -12 finishers. the stake race payouts of $700,000 includes $201,400.00 in nomination fees and $489,600.00 from the stake race pool. nominations make up 29% of the stakes total pool.
