LongRun Gala features great costumes, great band, much fun

The bi-annual LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society’s Prancing with the Stars Gala took place last night at the Woodbine tent and it was a hilarious night of horsepeople dressed up as their favourite celebrity or character.
There was a superb meal served by Woodbine, Coolio Wine and bar, a scotch bar, silent auction, draw for win tickets on American Pharoah and a live auction. It was an action packed night that ended with a crammed dance floor.

Thanks to MRWILLWONG.COM for some of these great photos:

CANNOCK CHASE, Sir Michael Stoute, pointed to Can. International

Following a win in the listed Godolphin Stakes last week, Cannock Chase may be headed to the Canadian International next month…

from the Guardian.com

“He has done that very nicely,” Stoute said after Cannock Chase had beaten Tashaar by nearly four lengths. “That is the first time we have run him over a mile and a half and I would certainly consider the Canadian International. I think Canada would be more suitable than the Breeders’ Cup Turf.”

Woodbine Entertainment Group awards money to Pathways to Education and Youth Without Shelter
United Way Toronto & York Region also received money as part of WEGcares Week

FROM THE Etobicoke Guardian

Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) wrapped up its WEGcares Week celebrations by announcing two local charities as the winners of its 2015 Charity Challenge.

Pathways to Education and Youth Without Shelter were revealed to be the first- and second-place finishers in an online ballot last Sunday, Sept. 20 during the 17th annual Woodbine Turf Races – a unique fundraising event at Woodbine’s world-renowned E.P. Taylor Turf Course.

The Woodbine Turf Races act as the culmination of WEGcares Week, a 10-day celebration of WEG-supported community associations, industry partners and causes that contribute to the life, health, vitality and vibrancy of WEG communities.

In total, 17 local charitable organizations were involved in WEGcares Week, during which an online ballot asked racing fans and customers to vote for a favourite charity.

Pathways to Education, which garnered the most votes, won the WEGcares Week Charity Challenge, earning a $7,500 donation. Youth Without Shelter came in second place, gaining a $2,500 donation.
