A packed card of 11 races on Sunday is headlined by one of our favourite 2 races – the Canadian International and E.P. Taylor. Lovely to watch the European fillies glide around the track observing their new surroundings.

Both races have good fields.

The Nearctic has 11 sprinters and only 3 locals – very interesting dash. The Ontario Fashion is also a decent event with 11 filly and mare sprinters.

As for the big race, the people associated with the 11 entrants will scrutinize the weather as Sunday afternoon draws near. At the time of this writing, the rain fell heavily just northwest of the track and there was thunder and lighting too.

Picking out those who may appreciate a bit of cut in the ground will be key, don’t forget to read any notes you can find on the horses to see what their trainers prefer to have as far as turf condition.

SHEIKHZAYEDROAD won the Northern Dancer Stakes – Grade 1 at Woodbine a year ago but he has struggled in many races since then. Maybe Woodbine turf perks him up again? Lots of off-the-plane horses for the big races this weekend – WOODBINE RACETRACK PHOTO

INTERPOL ON THE RISE – TORONTO STAR FEATURE

Just how does an Ontario bred end up deep in a Kentucky yearling sale, race for top American owners and then find himself with longtime top trainer and Hall of Famer Sid Attard?

WOODBINE NOTES

Speed was the name of the winning game on Wednesday night during a small card of 8 races.

Thoroughblog wants to congratulate JOHN CARDELLA for his first win of the season when ITWILLALLWORKOUT won the last race under David Garcia for owners Dennis and Janice Clow.

On Friday, an influx of shippers from the US help fill in the card and be on the lookout for an intriguing beginner, BATTERY, an Ontario bred by Bernardini, owned by Curtis Harrell (Alto racing family) and trained by Todd Pletcher.
