The race that Wise Dan made, okay a bit from Tepin too, the RICOH WOODBINE MILE (G1) is set for its 24th running Saturday with a field of 8.
The presence of WAR OF WILL, Preakness Stakes (G1) winner, Horse of the Year STARSHIP JUBILEE and unbeaten 3-year-old SHIRL’S SPEIGHT did not scare away another 5 horses who were lured into the field for the 1 mile turf race.
WAR OF WILL is the big ticket and figures to be heavily backed with Starship Jubilee also well bet. The latter comes off her first loss of the year and is shortening up in distance for the Mile. Shirl’s Speight is coming off a cough and was taken out of consideration for the Kentucky Derby. The Preakness Stakes was expected to be the horse’s next race but he will try the grass again and will set a spirited pace.
