The Alberta horseman has been fine-tuning his broodmare band and has raised some nice stakes horses from small numbers.

Seven stakes races were held Sunday Sept. 6 celebrating Alberta racing and Maskwecis won a thrilling Beaufort Stakes, the final prep for the Canadian Derby.
Maskwecis won the $40,000 Western Canada Handicap at Century Mile on July 26 on his journey to the Canadian Derby in September.
