Thoroughbred racehorses in the state of California will now be protected under an historic agreement to protect the safety and welfare of horses and riders.
After closing for training and racing March 5, Santa Anita’s main track could re-open on March 22, now that analysis and work has been done to improve it.
Twenty-one horses have died at Santa Anita Park since December 26, 2018, prompting the closure of the track for “additional extensive testing.”
