The Run for the Roses 2020. This year it is the second jewel of the Triple Crown, it is 4 months later than usual, and there will not be any fans.
Welcome to horse racing in the COVID-10 pandemic.
The draw for the September 5 Derby was held Tuesday and TIZ THE LAW, expected to be the heaviest favourite since Arazi (4 to 5) in 1992, drew post 17.
Of course he did – post 17 has never produced a Kentucky Derby winner!
On the morning line odds, Tiz the Law was installed at 3 to 5. Last time a Derby starter was that low on the M/L was an entry that included Easy Goer in 1989.
Just hours before the draw, Bruce Lunsford’s ART COLLECTOR was withdrawn due to a foot issue. SOUTH BEND, 0 for 8 this year, was added to the field.
