The Lexington Stakes (G3) at Keeneland on April 15 was the final race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby point system implemented by Churchill Downs and while the winner, FIRST MISSION (Street Sense) took down the 20 points for the win, he does not have any more points and will not be in the Derby.

Third-place finisher DISARM (Gun Runner), however, grabbed 5 points and could be entered in the Run for the Roses by Winchell Thoroughbreds. Disarm was some seven lengths off the slow pace in the 1 1/16 mile Lexington on Saturday and ambled along for his top three placing in his fifth career race. The Steve Asmussen trainee won his maiden at Saratoga last summer and was second in the Louisiana Derby (G2) in his second outing of this season behind Kingsbarns.

Disarm’s points pushed Jace’s Road out of the top 20 by points for the Derby and pushed others down the list also including Mandarin Hero, the Japanese colt who was second in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby with Woodbine’s leading rider Kazushi Kimura on board.
