Canada’s reigning champion jockey KAZUSHI KIMURA took Japanese colt T O PASSWORD for a spin over the Churchill Downs dirt track on Tuesday morning, speeding along in 46.80 for four furlongs. The son of Copano Rickey (Jpn) is unbeaten in two races and won his latest, the Fukuryu Stakes with a front-running style. The more fancied Japanese colt, FOREVER YOUNG, also had another work, dawdling along in 1:03 for five furlongs. Unbeaten in five races, Forever Young had a six furlong workout on April 24 in 1:19.60.

The Derby had a scratch on Tuesday as ENCINO was withdrawn by Brad Cox due to an injury. That allows EPIC RIDE (Blame) to draw into the race and he will start from post 20. Epic Ride was second  by a neck in his career debut last December at Turfway Park, won his next two races there including the Leonatus Stakes at 1 mile and he was second to Encino in the John Battaglia Stakes. He recently was third in the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) behind Sierra Leone and Just a Touch with a career-best 90 Beyer Figure.

Epic Ride will be ridden by Adam Beschizza and he is trained by John Ennis for Welch Racing.
