151st Kentucky Derby: Point Leaders, But Still Early

Here are the Kentucky Derby (G1) points as of March 25. The horse is listed with his sire, points, owners and trainer. Earnings follow along with the last three Beyer Speed Figures. The top 20 horses on this list are currently in the field, although there is still the Arkansas Derby, Florida Derby, Wood Memorial, Santa Anita Derby and Blue Grass Stakes to be run.

Currently on this list are horses that seem unlikely to be headed to the Derby such as #12 Getaway Car and #13 Built.

JOURNALISM is considered the Derby favourite based on his 108 Beyer Figure romp in the 1 1/16 mile San Felipe Stakes (G2) on March 1. Note that there were only two dirt routes on the card that day, a few dirt sprints, and the rest of the races were on turf. The Santa Anita Derby will be next for the son of Curlin.
