Woodbine Oaks winner, the filly NO TIME, was made the 7-to-2 morning line favourite for the 166th King’s Plate at Woodbine on Saturday, August 16, before the draw for posts Tuesday.

No Time, seeking to become yet another filly — and another filly owned by Gary Barber and trained by Mark Casse — to win the Plate, drew post 10. John Velazquez, who guided the filly to a sizzling win in the Woodbine Oaks, is back on board.

Notorious Gangster also has a Plate-winning trainer in Josie Carroll, and owner and breeder Mark Dodson has a good one in this son of Classic Empire. He was pegged at 9-to-2 odds and Fraser Aebly will ride from post 3.

American-based invader Tom’s Magic is 5-to-1 and this son of Justify is owned by Americans CJ Johnsen’s CJ Thoroughbreds and Scott Mawaka’s Mo Speed Racing. Michael Stidham trains and Rafael Hernandez will ride.

Scorching, also American-owned, is trained by 44-year Woodbine veteran John Charalambous. The colt has made it back from serious illness to be a Plate contender. Jose Lezcano rides.

Apprentice Pietro Moran has been named on two horses for the Plate, both owned by Al and Bill Ulwelling. Moran has been riding Grade 3 stakes winner Mansetti, but he has also been named on maiden winner Faber.
