Ottawa, ON—In conjunction with Equine Canada’s Annual Convention, the Breeds & Industry Division 2008 Delegate Assembly will be held Saturday, February 9, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 10, 12:00–4:00 p.m., at the Westin Hotel in Calgary, AB. Equine Canada’s AGM will be held Sunday morning.
The two-day Breeds & Industry Division Delegate Assembly is an open meeting for everyone to discuss issues affecting the entire equine industry and includes Breeds & Industry Council elections. Break-out sessions will add to the line-up of speakers presenting a multitude of topics including
• Revising the Codes of Practice for Horses and the role of the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC),
• Government of Canada’s National Animal Health Strategy,
• Export Market Development,
• Health, Welfare and Transportation Alerts,
• Equine ID and the UELN – From Trotters to Jumpers, Connecting Sport and Breeding, and
• Equine Canada Breeders Initiative Fund.
The Breeds & Industry Division provides a structure for the more than 40 breed organizations operating in Canada to unite as a national coalition under Equine Canada. It provides a forum for the equine industry to participate in policy development and exchange information between Equine Canada, Canadian stakeholders, the Government of Canada and foreign entities.
