EL TORMENTA, Woodbine Mile (G1) winner, had his final Breeders’ Cup workout on Friday morning at Woodbine. The son of Stormy Atlantic, owned and bred by Sam-Son farms and trained by Gail Cox, went five furlongs, breezing, in 1:00 1/5 under Eurico da Silva.

Da Silva will ride the gelding in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on Nov. 2.

El Tormenta, who meets up with the filly Got Stormy once again (she was second in the Woodbine Mile as the favourite), figures to be anywhere from 6 to 10 to 1 in the Breeders’ Cup which has an assortment of European milers plus some decent US runners.

In other Canadian connected news for the Breeders’ Cup, PETER REDEKOP’S ANNEAU D’OR (The Golden Ring) will be making his second career start in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile off an eight-length debut win at Golden Gate. The colt is by Medaglia D’oro from the Tapit mare Walk Close.

Anneau D’Or will meet up with EIGHT RINGS, an Empire Maker colt owned in part by Toronto’s John Fielding. Eight Rings’ breeding rights were just sold to Coolmore on Friday.

In Breeders’ Cup Juvenile news, AMERICAN THEOREM will not be entered in the Juvenile.

Europeans who are not headed to the Cup races that were pre-entered include FAIRYLAND, SO PERFECT and PRECIOUS MOMENTS.

Sad news from Godolphin this morning as LINE OF DUTY broke down in a workout and was euthanized. He was heading to the Breeders’ Cup Mile.
