SAM-SON FARMS’ 25th starter in a Breeders’ Cup race since the series began in 1984 is EL TORMENTA, who has been pre-entered in the Breeders’ Cup Mile on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita.
Trained by Gail Cox, who has been to three previous Breeders’ Cups with two different horses, El Tormenta won the Woodbine Mile (g1), a race that tends to produce horses who run well in the Mile.
El Tormenta is one of 14 accepted into the main body of the Breeders’ Cup Mile, while two of those have first preferences in other races. There are several on the also eligible and a field of 14 in total is likely.
CHANNEL MAKER, a Canadian-bred and Champion in Canada, is in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1). Bred by Ivan Dalos, the son English Channel is owned by Wachtel Stable and Gary Barber, Reeve Racing and R.A. Hill Racing.
Charles Fipke’s SEEKING THE SOUL, is a Canadian owned entrant in the $6 million Classic. Fipke, from Vancouver, BC bred the son of Perfect Soul (Ire) in Kentucky.
187 horses were entered in the Cup races, more than 25% are International horses.
