A solidly built filly by one of BC’s leading sires, Sungold, brought a bid of $61,000 to top the BC CTHS Yearling and Mixed Sale on August 28 at the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley.
The sale topper was bred by Dr. Bryan and Carol Anderson and is a daughter of multiple winner Revealing Time, by After Market. Revealing Tume, who once had 28 claims entered for her in a race in New York during his career, is the dam of this year’s hot three-year-old filly Avana, a winner of four stakes races.
Lorrie Lisogar, owner of Century Plaza Stable, was the successful buyer of the Sungold filly.
The BC sale struggled this year as 31 yearlings sold for a gross of $450,000 for an average of $14, 516, down 26 percent from 2023. The median of $10,000 was down 37 percent from last year.
Swift Thoroughbreds purchased a Practical Joke filly for $44,000 from the consignment of Stride Away Thoroughbreds, which also sold the fourth highest price of the sale, a $29,000 Counterforce filly purchased by Robert Gilker.
The top colt of the sale was a son of Bakken purchased for $35,000 by Gloria Russo from Foundation Racing Stable through Red Rock Farm, agent.
