HIDDEN GRACE, the top 3-year-old filly at Assiniboia Downs, traveled from her home base to Alberta to take part in the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta) $50,000 Sale Stake for 3-year-olds and up fillies and mares at Century Downs.

The amazing daughter of Going Commando – High Pioneer worked hard to hold her rivals safe in the seven furlong race and won in 1:23.50 for her ninth straight win in nine starts. The 3 year-old filly was bred and is owned by by Cam Ziprick, Charles Fouillard and Barry Arnason, is trained by Michael Nault, was ridden by Renaldo Cumberbatch and is groomed by Brittany Macdonald.

The Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd. entry of Weekend Wizard and Call It a Wrap ran first and second in the $50,000 CTHS Sale Stake for Colts & Geldings.

Weekend Wizard stumbled at the start but recovered and took command and won the race by 3/4 of a length over his stablemate. The four-year-old by Rosberg – Gailgo by Finality ran 7 furlongs in 1:22.35. He is trained by Tim Rycroft, who has a string of Riversedge horses at Woodbine this fall and is already a 2-time winner.

SANGRIA at Century Downs with groom Maddy Zielke

It was a one-two sweep for the BC invaders in the $100,000 Freedom of the City Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Sangria (by Sungold, out of Vinoterra) shipped in from Hastings Park for owners Russell and Lois Bennett, trainer Barbara Heads, groom Maddy Zielke and won with jockey Rico Walcott.

The $100,000 Canadian Juvenile was the final stakes race of the season and it had a full field of 12 youngsters with three battling to the finish. Rail Hugger (Girolamo –  Hit Girl, by First Samurai) won by a nose over Alberta breds Greek Geek and Dune d’Oro. He went the 7 furlongs in 1:31.31 and paid $19.40 for the win. The $15,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase is owned by  John Hansen, trained by Elige Bourne, and was ridden by jockey Prayven Badrie.
