Assiniboia Downs is Back with More Takeout Reductions for 2024

The opening of the Assiniboia Downs live race meet is on Monday, May 20, 2024, and the track is announcing some more horseplayer-focused features this season.

The Downs is once again reducing takeouts to return more money to the horseplayers. The Double, Exactor, Triactor, Superfecta, and Pick 5 pools will all be reduced by a full 1%.

The track has reduced takeouts over the last several years in its commitment to giving back to its loyal and growing fanbase. These improvements will mean higher payouts for players. The feedback from these moves has shown that they are having a positive impact on the success of the racing program.

The Pick 4 pool will start with a $25,000 guarantee every race night and will be offered on the last four races of the program.

ASD has also announced it will be setting a new standard in North American racing by eliminating the run-up for all races at all distances. The posted race distance versus the actual distance from the starting gate to the finish line can be very different throughout North America. This move standardizes every race so that players will know that a horse will be truly running the posted distance every time which will help with their betting decisions.

The opening day program will also feature Indian Horse Relay racing as part of the Manito Ahbee Festival and the Elite Indian Relay Association. These unique and highly challenging races will be part of the entertainment on the opening night program as non-betting events.

The racing schedule at The Downs will continue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights at 7:30 Central / 8:30 Eastern, starting May 20, 2024.
