Conrad Farms’ popular three-year-old filly Listenlindalisten earned her second successive stakes title on Wednesday evening at Woodbine Racetrack with a front-striding effort in the $125,000 Eternal Search.
Following a victory in the Passing Mood Stakes on August 2, Listenlindalisten was sent postward as the even-money favourite in the Eternal Search and she didn’t disappoint her backers at the betting windows. With Patrick Husbands taking the reins, the Mark Casse trainee defeated a field of Ontario-sired sophomores in the 1-1/16 mile event on the Woodbine main.
Leaving from outside her five filly foes, Listenlindalisten crossed to command over the quick-leaving Hailey’s Prize (Jesse Campbell) out of the gate and set fractions of :24.79, :49.09 and 1:13.33 before expanding her lead down the homestretch when Hailey’s Prize made her bid. Listenlindalisten won by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:44.88 while Crumlin Queen (David Moran) improved her position to second and Kadley (Gary Boulanger) came through for third ahead of Hailey’s Prize.
“The first four strides, I really let Jesse [Campbell aboard Hailey’s Prize] know I wanted the lead so we took the lead and she was just enjoying herself out there,” said Husbands, who previously rode the improving filly in her first two career starts.
Bred in Ontario by Anthony Russo and Leslie Russo, the lightly raced daughter of Court Vision and Queen Ofthe Dawn has banked over $168,729 in just five starts with three wins and a pair of top three finishes.
The win was one of four on the eight-race card for Husbands.
Listenlindalisten paid $4.30, $3.10 and $2.60, and combined with Crumlin Queen ($4.30, $3.50) for a 6-1 exactor worth $17.50. A 6-1-5 triactor (Kadley, $3) paid $80.10 and a $1 superfecta of 6-1-5-4 (Hailey’s Prize) returned $248.20. Cindervella (Eurico Rosa Da Silva) and the winner’s stablemate, Missy Crissy (Rafael Hernandez), completed the finish order.
