Young stallions GUFO and LOGGINS sired their first foals and both youngsters were born in Canada.

Ballycroy Bloodstock  in Loretto, ON announced the arrival on January 24 of a flashy chestnut colt by multiple Grade 1 winner Gufo (Declaration of War) from Woodbine stakes winner Blurricane, by Rebellion (GB).

Gufo entered stud in 2024 at Ballycroy, but was re-located to Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky for this year.

“We’re thrilled with this colt out of the resilient mare Blurricane,” said Michaela Kemp of Ballycroy Bloodstock. “He’s sure to be a runner.”

Racing for Otter Bend Stables and trainer Christophe Clement, Gufo won or placed in 12 graded stakes, including winning the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) in 2020 and back-to-back renewals of the Sword Dancer Stakes (G1T) in 2021 and 2022. Gufo established a course record at Delaware Park in 2020, winning his graded stakes debut in the Kent Stakes (G3T) in 1:46.94 for 1 1/8 miles on turf. Gufo finished in the top three in 18 of 21 lifetime starts and retired with earnings of $2,176,530.

Ballycroy is excited to have the first crop of their stallion Collusion Illusion, a Grade 1 winner by Twirling Candy, sell as yearlings this season.

Ballycroy also stands AMI’S FLATTER, who is the sire of Colleen and Ivan Dalos’s first foal of 2025, a colt out of Turkmenistan by Candy Ride (Arg).

Glenn Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Nobleton has already had several foals in 2025. Among them is the first foal for LOGGINS (Ghostzapper) who stands at Hill ‘n’ Dale in Kentucky. A brilliant debut winner as a two-year-old, Loggins was second by a head in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity to Forte in his second and final career start.

The Loggins foal is a filly from the mare Seeking the Light, a stakes-placed daughter of Heatseeker.

Hill ‘n’ Dale’s first foal of 2025 was a Hard Spun – Courtly Ro, by Cairo Prince colt.

DEB HOLMES’ Phoenix Rising Stable had its first foal at Sure Foreman’s Farm when Goldstryke Glory produced a filly by Flameaway, nicknamed Gemma.
