A colt by American stallion Practical Joke topped the BC CTHS Yearling and Mixed Sale on Sept. 8 at Thunderbird Park in Langley. The colt, the second foal of the winning Paynter mare Sekhmet’s Revenge, brought a bid of $40,000 from Swift Thoroughbreds. The sale topper was consigned by Nutritech Ventures Inc.

The BC sale realized increases in sale and yearling average as well as gross sales. The 55 yearlings sold grossed $976,000 and averaged $17,747, up from the 2021 average of $15,959.

The second highest-priced offering was the top filly, a daughter of BC sire Finality from After the Rain by Lemon Drop Kid. Consigned by Stride Away Thoroughbreds, the $38,000 filly was bought by Bar None Ranches and Central City Stables.
