Fresh off a successful day of racing on July 23 ‘Cup’ Day, Hastings Racecourse comes back with its popular BC Cup Day on Monday, August 1. Six stakes races worth a total of $300,000 highlight the eight-race card which begins at 2:00 Pacific.
Wagering on Cup Day last week was over $900,000 and fans crammed the Hastings grandstand for a dress-up, festival-type afternoon at the races.
On Aug. 1 the stakes races begin with the $50,000 BC Cup Debutante for 2-year-old fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs. Stakes-placed MS STANFORD, owned by Mauro Comensoli and trained by Dino Condilenios, and debut winner STOPSHOPPINGSHELLY, owned by MJD Sables and trained by Demetris Topouzis, are contenders in the Debutante.
The BC Cup Distaff is led by multiple champion INFINITE PATIENCE, who is fresh off a win in the Monashee Stakes in her season opener for William DeCoursey and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
