Hastings Racecourse trainer Nancy Betts, conditioner of 2019 stakes winner Daz Lin Dawn, purchased three horses at the recently completed Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale in Lexington.

Betts bought the 8-year-old mare Bettying on Lucy for $7,700 in foal to Tonalist. The mare is by Awesome Again – Hannah’s Dowery by Stephen Got Even.

Mischievious Kat, by Into Mischief – Katispsublue by Comic Strip was purchased by Betts as a racing or broodmare prospect for $5,000. The 7-year-old is a 5-time winner from a stakes placed mare. Betts’ third purchase was a short yearling filly by Grade 1 winner Flat Out – All Day Donna, by Value Plus for $3,000.

Also at Keeenland, Kent Bird, who entered into horse racing through the Hastings Racing Club, bought a short yearling named Saver the Kiss for $3,000. The filly is by Kentucky Derby (G1) winner from the mare Nevertoomanykisses, a stakes placed daughter of Checklist.

On Jan. 7 at the CTBA January Mixed Sale in Pomona, California, one of BC’s leading owners, George Gilbert,  purchased a 2-year-old filly by Curlin to Mischief – Grand Advice, by Mr. Greeley for $5,000. The youngster is a half sister to Grade 3 winner Zakaroff and stakes winner Castle.

Brian Albertson, agent of Surrey, BC paid $13,000 for the gelding Saltini by Bernardini out of the Argentine champion mare Salt Champ (Arg) by Salt Lake. This half brother to millionaire Champ Pegasus is a 7-year-old, 2-time winner.
