John Carey has acquired BOND STREET, a 6-year-old son of world class sire GALILEO (Ire), to stand at his T.C. Westmeath Stud in Shelburne, ON for the 2022 season. Carey stands leading Canadian stallions Old Forester and Souper Speedy.
Bond Street was a two-time winner as a 3-year-old on turf ( seven furlongs) and all-weather (one mile) for trainer Aidan O’Brien and owners John Magnier and Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. The classically bred horse is by Galileo, a 21-time time leading stallion who sired over 345 black-type winners including the great Frankel, now a top sire himself. Other sons of Galileo (who died in July 2021) who have been successful at stud include Teoofilio and New Approach, among others.
Bond Street is a full brother to multiple Group 2 winner ARMORY who was the Top weighted handicapped horse for 9 ½ – 11 furlongs in Ireland in 2020. Among Armory’s victories were the Galileo Irish EBF Futurity Stake (G2), Chester Melodi Media Hurley Stake (G2) and the Japan Racing Association Tyros Stake (G3). Armory was also second in the 2020 Cox Plate (G1) and the Criterium International and third in the Group 1 Prince of Wales Stakes at Ascot.
Bond Street’s dam is Group 3 placed After, a daughter of top sire Danehill Dancer. After is a half-sister to multiple French stakes winner Temps Au Temps. The female family includes Eclipse Award winning turf mare Wandesta.
Bond Street will stand for a fee of $3,000.
