Rexdale, ON – The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division) is pleased to announce the top earners in the Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program for 2009.

Sovereign Champion Rahy’s Attorney has been named the Overall Champion of the Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program by 2009 stakes earnings ending Dec. 31, 2009. The five-year-old son of Crown Attorney collected $489,800 in stakes earnings this past racing season, which included first place wins in the G2 Nijinsky Stakes, the G2 King Edward Handicap, and the Bunty Lawless Stakes at Woodbine.  Bred and co-owned by Ellie Boje Farm, Rahy’s Attorney was voted the Sovereign Award for Champion Male Turf Horse in 2008.

The Ontario breeders’ bonus program consists of six divisions offering $10,000 and a $2,000 OSS Stallion Breeding Certificate for first place, and $5,000 cash and a $1,000 OSS Stallion Breeding Certificate to second place recipients. In addition, an award in the amount of $10,000 and a $2,000 OSS Breeding Certificate is presented to the breeder of the Overall Ontario-Sire Champion.

Two-Year-Old Males:

Three-Year-Old Fillies:

1st – Double Malt, ($262,550), bred by Mike Ambler

Three-Year-Old Males:

1st – Mr. Foricos Two U, ($258,750), bred by Rocco D’Alimonte

2nd – Guipago, ($175,000), bred by Heste Sport Inc.

Four-Year-Old & Up Fillies:

1st – Authenticat, ($153,700 in earnings), bred by Gail Wood

2nd – You Will Love Me, ($108,400 in earnings), bred by Bill Jones

Offered through the Thoroughbred Improvement Program (TIP), the Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program was established in 2008 to reward breeders of the top Ontario-Sired foals who compete in black type stakes races in Ontario with $120,000 in cash rewards and breeding certificates.
