The Fasig-Tipton Winter Mixed Sale on February 6 and 7 in Lexington, KY is the last chance for shoppers to pick up a mare or broodmare prospect, yearling or a horse of racing age before the breeding season gets underway in North America.

More than 450 horses have been catalogued, plus 100 supplements, for the sale.

“As the last mixed sale before the start of breeding season, Kentucky Winter Mixed is a very important sale on the Thoroughbred auction calendar,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “This year’s catalogue offers another quality group of stakes credentialed racing and broodmare prospects and proven producers. The strength of covering sires and yearling sires has increased once again, as well.”

Covering sires represented in the catalogue include: American Pharoah, Army Mule, Blame, Bolt d’Oro, Candy Ride, Girvin, Good Magic, Justify, Liam’s Map, Maxfield, Midshipman, Mitole, Not This Time, Oscar Performance, Practical Joke, Tapwrit, Tiz the Law, Twirling Candy, Violence, Volatile, War of Will, and Yaupon.

Sires of yearlings catalogued include: Army Mule, Audible, Bolt d’Oro, Candy Ride, Gift Box, Global Campaign, Good Magic, Hard Spun, Improbable, Liam’s Map, Maclean’s Music, Malibu Moon, McKinzie, Midshipman, Mitole, Munnings, Nyquist, Oscar Performance, Practical Joke, Sharp Azteca, Tapwrit, Tiz the Law, Upstart, Vekoma, War Front, and War of Will.

Ontario-bred stakes winner MISS SPEEDY is entered in the sale following her 2023 season debut at Gulfstream Park when 10th in the Inside Information Stakes (G2). The daughter of Souper Speedy – Miss Dorothy by Stormin Fever won the 2021 Duchess Stakes and her 2022 finale at Woodbine. She is owned by Ryan and Barry Kerbel and Gary Barber and offered by Bluewater Sales as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Alberta-bred AWESOME GIGI, by Awesome Again, is a stakes placed 5-year-old half sister to two stakes horses and her dam is a full sister to champion True Metropolitan. Awesome Gigi is offered by Grovendale Sales.

CLASSIC QUEEN is another Canadian-bred offering and the multiple Woodbine  winner by Classic Empire – Gauze is a half-sister to two stakes horses and selling as a broodmare prospect by Brookdale.
