Dr. Betty Hughes has acquired graded stakes-placed CAMEO APPEARANCE (Majestic Warrior) from Louisiana to stand at Darryl and Maggie Lawson’s Dunroven Farm in Rosser, Manitoba.

Dr. Hughes, who currently stands Vengeful Wildcat at Dunroven Farm, is one of Manitoba’s leading owners and breeders. Cameo Appearance had been standing at Red River Farms in Coushatta, LA since he entered stud in 2015.

Cameo Appearance is by Hopeful Stakes (G1) winner Majestic Warrior, a son of A.P. Indy, and sire of more than 25 stakes winners.

The dam of Cameo Appearance is the winning Tiznow mare SWEET BEAT, dam of five winners including stakes-placed Skyscanner and Fire Alarm, the latter who won 15 races and over $525,000. Sweet Beat is a half-sister to Chicago Handicap (G3) winner Kitty in a Tizzy, and his broodmare sire was one of the gamest horses ever to set foot on a racetrack, winning back-to-back (2000-2001) Breeders’ Cup Classics (G1).

Cameo Appearance was bred and raced by Gary and Mary West and the speedy horse won his maiden at Arlington with a 100 Beyer Speed Figure. He posted Beyers in the 90s, finished second in the 2013 Oklahoma Derby (G3) and third in the Super Derby (G2) while compiling a record of 4-1-2 from eight starts for earnings of $228,678. Cameo Appearance won at distances from six furlongs to one mile. His overall pedigree includes double crosses of some of the best racehorses and sires in the history of the breed — Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Buckpasser and Northern Dancer.

Cameo Appearance was a top five first-crop sire in Louisiana in 2018 and has sired dozens of winners including $230,000 earner Have No fear.
