Hastings Racecourse has put together without question the best racing card of the 2015 season for tomorrow’s Canada Day live program.
The day features 4 stakes races all with good size fields, three heats in the Championship series and first six furlong race for two year old allowance horses.
Lots of features for the whole family including pony rides for the kids and my number one son Mario Gutierrez is here to ride for the day.

The Hastings Racing Club only has a few memberships left and it appears it will be completely sold out by tomorrow. The Club purchased their second horse on Sunday and are all ready to go. Those blue and white grandstand seats should be full very soon as they expect to run their new purchase very soon.
Tuesday is Always Stats Day
Last Sunday was the 20th day of live racing or 40% of the way thru the originally scheduled 50 day meet.
The average horse per race is hanging on at just over 7 horses per race. A total of 149 races have been run with 1044 entries.
The track has been rated as fast all 20 days and looking at the long range forecast for the next 14 days there isn’t a drop of rain in forecast or there doesn’t appear any relieve in the temperatures either as temperatures for this time of the year are well above normal.
It was 93 degrees when I left the track on Sunday afternoon.
Our purse pool for the first time in the last five years in under budget thanks to the cooperation of the racing office. The average payout per race is $14,666.00 for overnight races. The total payout for overnights at the end of June was $2,038,590.00. The average payout per day is $126,929.50 and that will see a sharp jump after the Canada Day Card which has a total payout of nearly $300,000.00.
The pari-mutual handle continues to be approximately 20% ahead of 2014.
