It will be an Ontario yearling sale like no other when a catalogue of some 190 youngsters for the Canadian Premier Yearling sale is presented to prospective buyers September 2 at the Woodbine sale pavilion beginning at 12 noon. Due to the COVID-pandemic there are restrictions on the number of people allowed on site for the sale (see all protocols here) and online bidding has been established and phone bidding has been expanded.

What has not changed is that there are plenty of opportunities to scoop up a Canadian-bred and/or Ontario-sired racing prospect for 2021, eligible to the lucrative bonus program.

From the remarkable PINK LLOYD, to SUMMER SUNDAY, COOLER MIKE, SAV and others, the Canadian Premier Yearling Sale is the sale to find racing stars.

As a side note, 2019 graduate DOWNLOAD, sold to La Amici Racing and breeder Zilli Racing, won a maiden allowance race on turf for 2-year-olds on August 23 with a purse of $126,800. The dark bay colt is by Society’s Chairman and was sold by Shannondoe farm, agent, last year.

Buyers can get an early look at yearlings either by making an appointment at farms or by viewing the CTHS Ontario’s Youtube page which has photos and walking videos.

The sale site map illustrates areas for bidding and can be viewed here.

Catalogue updates by hip number can be seen here.

This is slated to be the final sale held at the Woodbine sale pavilion which was built by the CTHS, with sales barns, in 1963. Woodbine has used the sales barns for additional racing stabling since the early 1980s.

The 2020 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale is slated to be the last held at the Woodbine sales pavilion.
