Through 10 sessions of the giant Keeneland September Yearling sale and with just one session remaining, there were plenty of Canadians selling their homebreds at the Kentucky auction. Conversely, there were few Canadian buyers from almost 4,000 yearlings sold.

Bernard McCormack’s Cara Bloodstock, through 10 sessions, sold seven yearlings including a Good Magic – Mabsolta colt for $230,000 for Christina and Jay Hayden and a $225,000 More Than Ready – Cafe Matcha colt for Mitchell Kursner.

Anderson Farms sold nine, all but one for six figures including a $625,000 Justify filly from Halo’s Verse, a $360,000 Street Sense filly from Tidal Surge and later in the sale, a $320,000 Collected filly from Bezzera.

Sam-Son Farms continued its dispersal and sold six yearlings including a $300,000 filly by Bernardini – Siren’s Song and a $295,000 filly by Pioneerofthe Nile from Mythical Mission.

AL and BILL ULWELLING spent some of their winnings from the Prince of Wales victory by HADDASSAH when they bought an Ontario-bred filly by Lemon Drop Kid during Session 6 at the Keeneland September sale. The Minnesota-based owners paid $235,000 for the full sister to Breeders’ Stakes winner Belichick and stakes winner Season Ticket, sold by Keith Lancaster, agent for Sean and Dorothy Fitzhenry.

Some other Canadian buyers including John Di Scola of the Di Scola Boys, Barbara Minshall and Richard Hogan.

A number of yearlings are tabbed to go to trainer Mark Casse, which means they will likely appear in Canada for their racing career. Among those was a colt by Collected from Duchess Dancer, a half-brother to this year’s Queen’s Plate winner Safe Conduct. The colt sold for $110,000 to John Oxley and was bred by Kursner.
