Canadian-breds were popular through two books (of five), four sessions of the large Keeneland September Yearling Sale that began Sept. 13.
David Anderson’s ANDERSON FARMS as agent has sold three for $1,185,000 including a filly by Street Sense out of Tidal Surge for $360,000 and another filly by Justify from Halo’s Verse for $625,000.
HILL ‘N’ DALE SALES AGENCY as agent sold a filly by Justify from American Cleopatra (a half-sister to American Pharoah) for $750,000.
Bernard McCormack’s CARA BLOODSTOCK has sold three yearlings for $485,000 including Mitch Kurner’s grey colt by More Than Ready out of Cafe Matcha for $225,0o0 and a Good Magic colt for $230,000 for Jay and Christine Hayden.
Another Ontario-bred sold for $750,000 as ST. GEORGE SALES sold a Practical Joke colt out of Gal Factor on Thursday. Originally a $105,000 ‘short yearling’ purchase at Keeneland January, the colt was bred by South Point Sales, founded by Mike Recio and Arika Everatt-Meeuse. Sadly, Mike Recio passed away at the age of 46 on Thursday after a battle with sepsis.
On the buyer’s list, Glen Todd’s NORTH AMERICAN THOROUGHBRED HORSE COMPANY of Vancouver bought a Street Sense filly out of Black Diamond girl for $230,000.
