Jamaican-bred MASTER OF WAR won the $200,000 NLCB Gold Cup at Santa Rosa Park in Trinidad on Dec. 26. The 4-year-old son of Bridled Quest (Unbridled’s Song) from the Pioneering mare Senorita Sinki won by five lengths under Alberta-based jockey Wilmer Galviz.  Galviz has now won this race five times, a record.

At the Garrison Savannah, the Boxing Day card feature was the Grade 1 Diamonds International/ Crown of Light Boxing Day Stakes and Trophy and the amazing grey mare CELESTIAL STORM galloped to victory. The daughter of Get Stormy won the Sandy Lane Gold Cup in March and is the favourite to be named the island’s Horse of the Year for 2019. Rasheed Hughes rode Celestial Storm who was bred in Kentucky and was a $14,000 Ocala purchase by the Parravicino family who races the mare. Night Prowler finished second and Gandalf was third.
