The Pitons Cup and three other races were filled with horses imported from the U.S. and assigned by draw to various shareholders who bought in for $20,000. Casting Crowns was ‘owned’ by TAYLOR MADE FARM and Frank Taylor was on hand to greet the winning filly. Deon Visser was the winning trainer and Qin Yong guided the filly up the rail top win the 1 1/8 mile race over Colonel’s Pride. The time was 1:50.91.

Casting Crowns is a daughter of Warrior’s Reward – Miss Fontana by Classic Account and she was bred in Kentucky by Ed Frew.

Champion jockey Mike Smith presented the trainer’s trophy for the Pitons Cup to Deon Vasser.

The filly had not raced since October 2018, in fact none of the Pitons Cup starters had raced since 2018, and she had been re-claimed by trainer Karl Broberg for $7,500 from her last start when third at Remington Park on the dirt against non-winners of 3. It was the third win for Casting Crowns from 14 starts.

Second place finisher Colonel’s Pride, a winner for $5,000 claiming in 2018, and third place finisher Run Bayou were both Karl Broberg acquisitions. The horses were prepared for Saint Lucia by Rice Horse Stable in Ocala, Florida.

Race 1 was filled with un-started 3-year-olds was won by the filly REEF CUP, a Twirling Candy filly out of Pink Traffic by Candy Ride who was bought in 2018 at a 2-year-old sale in Ocala by the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club. The New York bred raced for Fasig-Tipton and Bluewater sales, was trained by Robbie Hewelson and ridden by James Chau.

Race 2 went to first time starter TURVEY ACT, a 4-year-old Maryland bred by Orb from the Easy Goer mare Fun Crown. This guy raced for Fast Track Construction and was trained by Deon Visser and ridden by Chen Li.

Race 3 was won by SENOR GUITAR for trainer Deon Vissar and jockey Qin Yong. The 5-year-old Star Guitard gelding was previously a 3-time winner and had last raced at Delta Downs. Eventstar was listed as owner.
