There is a small Canadian contingent headed to the 37th Breeders’ Cup World Championships Nov. 6 and 7 at Keeneland racecourse in Lexington, KY.

STARSHIP JUBILEE, the 2019 Horse of the Year in Canada, is one of 14 entered in the Filly & Mare Turf at 1 3/16 miles and it is her first preference. She was cross-entered in the Breeders’ Cup Mile as one of 14 in the body of the field.

Starship Jubilee, a Florida-bred, is Canadian-trained by Kevin Attard for Blue Heaven Farm. The Filly & Mare Turf will be run on Nov. 7.

GRETZKY THE GREAT, foaled in Ontario and bred by David Anderson in St. Thomas, is one of 14 entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on Future Stars Friday.

The son of Nyquist – Pearl Turn by Bernardini won the Grade 1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine and is raced by Gary Barber and Eclipse Thoroughbreds. Mark Casse trains. His yearling half-brother by Quality Road just sold at Fasig-Tipton this week for $560,000.

Anderson will also be watching the Turf Sprint on Saturday with interest as he owns the dam of stakes-winning sprinter BIG RUNNUER, Elusive Luci, an Elusive Quality mare who has a Society’s Chairman colt for Anderson this year.

CHANNEL MAKER, bred by Ivan Dalos in Ontario, is one of 11 entered in the Breeders’ Cup Turf and figures to be one of the favourites. The English Channel fellow from Outstanding Broodmare in Canada In Return began his career at Woodbine.

Woodbine stakes winner MARCH TO THE ARCH, who won the King Edward earlier this year, is one of 14 entered in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Casse trains for Live Oak Plantation.

Canadian bred SMILEY SOBOTKA is in the main body of the 14-horse field for Albaugh Family Racing. Bred by David Clancy’s  Track West Racing Inc. the son of Brody’s Cause – Dancethewayyouare by Mineshaft was a recent maiden winner at Keeneland.

He was sold at the 2019 Fasig Tipton August yearling sale for $185,000 through Taylor Made Sales.

CHARLES FIPKE has his Kentucky homebred TITLE READY entered in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Kentucky-bred is by More Than Ready out of a daughter of Personal Ensign.

JUVENILE TURF SPRINT:  Woodbine stakes winner DIRTY DANGLE is 4th on the AE list for Gary Barber and Eclipse Thoroughbreds and Mark Casse.

The former Ralph Biamonte trainee should be able to draw in, however, as there are 4 fillies in the body of the race with a first preference in other races.

DOLDER GRAND is 7th on the AE list. He began his career at Woodbine.

Canadian-born ROBERTINO DIODORO has DREAMER’S DISEASE entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. He is owned by Arnold Bennewith and Cypress Creek.

Canadian-bred HARLAN ESTATE (Kantharos – Archerette), bred by the Tall Oaks Farm of Ivan Dalos, is 5th on the AE list for the Juvenile.
