Below are two stories, one from Los Angeles Times‘ horse racing writer John Cherwa, about the recent approval of racing dates for Pleasanton racetrack in northern California. Santa Anita racetrack management had opposed the awarding of dates to the track. Pleasanton does not have a turf course but Santa Anita management believes racing dates there will take away horses from an already small horse population.
