Effective May 10, 2015, the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) will be enforcing a zero tolerance level with respect to clenbuterol found in quarter horses racing at Ajax Downs.
Any Quarter Horses testing positive for clenbuterol will be considered a violation of QUARTER HORSE DIRECTIVE NO. 1 – 2015 and may result in a fine and or a suspension.
With the support of the Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario Inc. (QROOI), the ORC has conducted random Out-of-Competition testing for the presence of clenbuterol since July, 2011 and will continue to do so, on a more frequent basis. This new initiative is part of an ongoing effort to eliminate the use of clenbuterol in quarter horse racing.
