Rexdale, ON – May 5, 2010 – The CTHS (Ontario Division) will be hosting its 28th Annual Awards to honour the Ontario-Bred Champions of 2009 on Saturday, June 12th at Copper Creek Golf Club in Kleinburg, Ontario.

The event will honour Ellie-Boje Farm as the 2009 Breeder of the Year and the late Michael Burns as the recipient of the 2009 Blood-Horse Mint Julep Cup award. Other highlights will include presentations to the breeders of all 2009 Ontario-Bred Black Type Stakes winners.

“We’re very pleased to honour Ellie-Boje Farm as our Breeder of the Year for their significant contribution to the breeding industry, especially with their very talented Sovereign Champion Rahy’s Attorney, who this year was crowned Overall Champion of our Ontario Sired Racing Rewards Program,” said Julie Coulter, General Manager of the Ontario CTHS. “As well, we’re pleased to be able to pay tribute to the late Michael Burns as this year’s Mint Julep Cup winner, and honour him for his talented passion toward horseracing photography and our industry.”

A silent auction featuring exceptional items donated by members and friends of the Thoroughbred community will also be included in the night’s festivities.  All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society.
