The annual CTHS Winter Mixed Sale, held at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion in Toronto where 135 horses were catalogued, resulted in 70 sold for a total
gross of $344,800 up from $156,700 in 2018. The average increased by 69.75% from $2,902 to $4,926 with the median decreasing by 32.5% to $1,350 from $2,000 in 2018.

A partial dispersal of horses owned by the late Gustav Schickedanz attracted the most attention and four of the top five prices were from that dispersal sold by Hill ‘n’ Dales Farms, agent.

Topping the sale was a bay yearling colt by OLD FORESTER from THATS OUR PRINCESS by Curlin bred by Schickedanz at his Schomberg Farm and bought for $72,000 by Richard Hogan, agent for Colebrook Farms. Thats Our Princess won over $140,00 and was quite speedy and her first foal to race is the promising filly Appela.

The second highest price of the sale was a $47,000 filly by Langfuhr, Schickedanz’ great Grade 1 winner and top stallion. This yearling is out of Sweet Bama Breeze by City Zip and she was bought by Schickedanz’ longtime trainer Mike Keogh, Don Howard and Zack Cameron. This is the first horse for Cameron who is married to Keogh’s longtime employee Amanda Erwin.

The third highest price was a grey yearling filly by Itsmyluckyday from the mare Megavista by Megas Vukefalos. This $29,000 gal was bought by Ron Clarkson.

The highest priced mare was SWEET CRIMSON, also from the Schickedanz /Hill ‘n’ Dale consignment. The $27,000 daughter of Langfuhr was stakes placed and is out of Sweet Bama Breeze, the dam of stakes winner Will She, placed Sweet Grass Creek. Sweet Crimson was purchased by John Carey and Archie Lee and she is in foal to Souper Speedy.
